Haciendo coherente la vida
An ethnography of plant biotechnology laboratories in Chile.
Biotechnology does not work with forms of life that are entirely stable or controllable. Producing knowledge and intervening in living organisms requires materials, techniques, biological rhythms, experiments, institutions and expectations of the future to be brought temporarily into coordination. My research examines how these coordinations are constructed and sustained, and what happens when they are interrupted or overflow their intended bounds.
